Q2 2009 Progress Report

Late last Fall, we had the barren slope north of the house hydroseeded. Over Winter, it was snow covered much of the time, but its southern exposure meant the snow quickly disappeared. May was unusually hot and dry, so we had to set up sprinklers. A cool, wet early half of June helped get some things growing.

Contrast this June 18 picture to the one taken in November, 2008. While it is clear that the extreme left and right ends of the slope are filling in and there is some grass along the bottom, the center is still quite bare. We suspect there is much rock and clay in the bare areas, and water quickly flows down the thin layer of topsoil to the lower extremity.
